Friday Dec 17, 2021
In this week's podcast Kate chats to dear Sober Sis, Sobriety Activist Nancy who is known on Tiktok and Instagram as Sober Loving Radical. https://www.instagram.com/sober_loving_radical/
Nancy is a 49 year old mum of three boys aged 9, 15 and 16 and has been sober since April 2018. She was diagnosed with ADHD in April 2020 she says 'after a lifetime of feeling like I didn't quite fit in and struggling with low self esteem." She is a sobriety and self discovery coach, (in training) and can currently be found on TikTok and Instagram as Sober Loving Radical.
Her mission is to define and promote 'Radical Sobriety' as a positive, joyful, lifestyle choice. A vehicle for self discovery and living a fulfilling and empowered life. In her private life my biggest drive is to break the cycle of generational trauma, to enable her children to feel better about themselves than she did growing up.
The is real talk for real times, how we actually feel in the run up to Xmas this second pandemic winter and what we think we might need to soothe, connect and light up our inner fairy lights to keep on keeping on.

Love Sober Podcast Episode 158 Seasonal Sober Self-Care.
Friday Dec 10, 2021
Friday Dec 10, 2021
In this episode we continue to assemble and refine the advent toolkit - we look at managing energy and staying balanced through 'Wintering' - which is respecting that deep need to rest and restore, do less and why it's so, so important for our sobriety and wellbeing.
We also discuss approaching this through self compassion - modelling that to our kids rather that this hyper perfectionism which feels so stressful and actually stops us being present - which is that greatest gift we can give them - and ourselves.
Hunker down, turn off all notifications, grab and cuppa and let's chat.

Love Sober Podcast Episode 156 - Guest Jo Walduck
Thursday Nov 25, 2021
Thursday Nov 25, 2021
In this episode, Mandy talks to sober shero and coach Jo Walduck. Jo Walduck (she/they) @zesobercoach @jowalduck loves long naps, white chocolate, social justice, walks on the beach and fluffy cats. Currently working remotely, she lives in Lyon, France but has grand plans to relocate to the seaside as soon as possible. Sober since October 2019, her journey to sobriety came off the back of burnout from teaching, and retraining as a life and business coach.
After taking one month off the booze to boost the launch her company, she realised the tip of the iceberg had just been scratched in terms of the benefits and lessons that can come from sustained sobriety, and since then has navigated quitting nicotine, coming out as trans, living with chronic illness, losing friends and family to isolation, illness and death, and of course, the adaptation to life in a pandemic. She works on herself and with women and queer folk as a coach, exploring the hindrances to sustained sobriety and the shadows that can appear when the sober light gets stronger.
Her support group (The Deep Duckpond) is currently only in English, but she works 1:1 with clients in English and French and hopes, *once things settle down* to be more actively involved in the alcohol free world in France, and to produce more resources and supports for members of the queer community who struggle with addictive substances and behaviour. Community, therapy, boundary work (inward and outward-facing), non-violent communication, and radical self-love and self-care (it's not all fluffy slippers) are the cornerstones of her sobriety, healing and recovery.

Love Sober Podcast Episode 152 - Johnny Better Without
Friday Oct 22, 2021
Friday Oct 22, 2021
Jonny has a background working for technology companies servicing the hospitality industry and it was with the combined technology knowledge and personal experience of giving up alcohol that the idea for the app came about.
His vision was to create a space for the millions of people who are sober or curious about changing their drinking habits, whether full or part-time. Having realised the number of drink options available and the growing range in both retail and hospitality, Jonny wanted to bring this together into one source.
The App is free https://betterwithout.app/ and a great tool for #soberoctober and beyond. Jonny is a great guy, and we really support everything he is doing for the sober community. Go check them out!
